About Natalie
The always excitable Natalie Downe works for Clearleft, in Brighton, as a client-side web developer.
An experienced usability consultant and project manager, her first loves remain front-end development and usability engineering. She enjoys Doing Things Right and occasionally dabbling in the dark arts of Python and poking the odd API.
When not behind a computer, Natalie loves nothing more than travelling the world in search of exotic food and funny animals with her lovely boyfriend Simon at her side.

She can be reached either by completing this contact form or by email on nat at natbat dot net.

This site runs on a custom weblog application written in Python using Django. It is hosted by mod_wsgi running on Apache 2 behind nginx, on an Ubuntu Virtual Machine at Linode. The database is MySQL 5. ElementTree is used throughout for munging XML.
The search engine is powered by YahooBOSS. OpenID support is built around the JanRain Python library. Version control is handled by Subversion on Dreamhost.
Atom feeds are served by FeedBurner. Photos are hosted on Flickr, and pulled in using the Flickr API. Favorite tweets are pulled from Twitter using the Twitter API.
The site was built with love by Simon Willison, with all front-end development (and some python bits) by Natalie.
